Abstract

The extraction of hydrocarbons generates significant environmental impacts, such as deforestation and pollution, affecting ecosystems and nearby communities. This study aims to evaluate these effects and propose sustainable strategies. A mixed-methods research approach was conducted, including a literature review from Scopus and SciELO, expert interviews, and case analysis. The results show that the use of clean technologies, environmental restoration, and regulatory strengthening reduce ecological impact. It is concluded that sustainability in hydrocarbon exploitation requires stricter policies, technological innovation, and cooperation among stakeholders to balance economic development and environmental conservation.
