Resumen

Higher education has undergone significant transformations due to the advancement of digitalization and the expansion of virtual learning environments. Pedagogical innovation and teacher training are key factors for improving educational quality. The objective of the study was to analyze the challenges and perspectives of pedagogical innovation and virtual teacher training in higher education in Ecuador. A qualitative documentary research was conducted based on scientific articles. The sample consisted of articles selected according to academic criteria. A documentary analysis matrix was used. The results highlight the need to strengthen teachers’ digital competencies.
