Small and medium-sized enterprises: competitiveness and sustainable development

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to analyze competitiveness and its relationship with the objectives of sustainable development in small and medium-sized companies. For this, two points are developed, one related to sustainability as a competitive strategy in small and medium-sized companies, and subsequently an analysis of sustainability as a factor of competitiveness in small and medium-sized companies is carried out. A bibliographic-documentary research was carried out on small and medium-sized companies and sustainability, that is, a compilation of documents or bibliographic references of various authors was made, in which the researcher bases and complements their research. It is projected that companies can align their business strategies considering business sustainability, that is, this new application of strategies for sustainability, not only would respond to the main social and environmental challenges, but would also open numerous business opportunities to solve them and thus favor the success of organizations.
